The Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) and the Police Service Commission (PSC) have agreed to collaborate on capacity-building initiatives aimed at strengthening integrity, accountability, and ethical standards within public service operations.

The partnership was established during a familiarization visit by the Provost of ACAN, Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, who led a delegation from the Academy to the headquarters of the Police Service Commission in Abuja. The visit underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to promoting professionalism and anti-corruption values through structured training and knowledge exchange.

Speaking during the engagement, Professor Ibrahim highlighted the Academy’s mandate to build institutional capacity and foster ethical leadership across public sector organizations. He noted that partnerships with key oversight bodies such as the PSC are essential in institutionalizing transparency and accountability frameworks. According to him, targeted training programmes would equip Commission personnel with modern tools and best practices necessary for effective service delivery and corruption prevention.

In his response, the Chairman of the Police Service Commission, retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Hashimu Argungu, expressed appreciation to the ACAN delegation for the visit, describing it as both thoughtful and timely. He acknowledged the Academy’s growing role in advancing anti-corruption education and institutional reforms.

DIG Argungu emphasized that strengthening ethical standards within the Commission remains a priority and assured the delegation of PSC’s readiness to partner with ACAN in the training and development of its staff. He stated that such collaboration would enhance professionalism, reinforce accountability mechanisms, and improve public trust in policing oversight functions.

The engagement marks a significant step toward inter-agency cooperation in Nigeria’s broader anti-corruption and governance reform agenda, reflecting a shared vision of building resilient institutions grounded in transparency and accountability.
