The Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria (ACAN) on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen strategic partnerships in the fight against corruption through research, conferences, and capacity-building initiatives within Nigeria’s tertiary education sector.

The visit was led by the newly appointed Provost of the Academy, Professor Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim, who described TETFund as a critical stakeholder in promoting transparency, accountability, and good governance across Nigeria’s education and research ecosystem. He noted that ACAN is committed to advancing anti-corruption discourse through evidence-based research, academic seminars, and policy-oriented conferences that address systemic governance challenges in tertiary institutions.

Professor Ibrahim emphasized the importance of collaboration with TETFund, particularly in supporting academic research and knowledge-driven interventions aimed at preventing corruption and strengthening institutional integrity. He expressed the Academy’s readiness to work closely with the Fund in developing impactful programmes that align with national anti-corruption priorities and support sustainable sectoral reforms.

In his response, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny S. T. Echono, welcomed the Provost and his delegation and commended the Academy for its mandate and renewed leadership direction. He acknowledged the critical role of research, intellectual engagement, and capacity building in addressing corruption and reinforcing accountability within public institutions.

Arc. Echono assured the delegation of TETFund’s willingness to support the Anti-Corruption Academy of Nigeria and to explore additional areas of collaboration that would be mutually beneficial. He reaffirmed the Fund’s commitment to initiatives that promote capacity development, policy-relevant research, and sustainable development in Nigeria’s tertiary education sector. The courtesy visit underscored the shared commitment of both institutions to strengthening transparency and accountability through strategic engagement, knowledge exchange, and collaborative programmes aimed at reinforcing Nigeria’s anti-corruption framework, particularly within the education sector.
